“Folded Ranges” Burl Desk – In The Making

Folded Ranges Desk In The Making Header

We are very excited about our latest JahRoc Furniture design that has landed in the gallery this week. It is something so incredibly unique, a design that was born in pure harmony with the unique and ancient salvaged burl slab.

The new desk is called ‘Folded Ranges’ and the design is based on land formations around the Porongurup and Stirling Ranges. It will be part of an exhibition that is brooding with Larry Mitchell that is based on that region.

For me those ranges stand up hard from the surrounding plains creating real drama in an otherwise non descriptive landscape.

The Burl Slab…

I first worked on this very unusually gnarled Jarrah burl 2 years ago but just couldn’t get involved with it until I had a worthy concept that celebrated its’ incredible features and honoured it’s spirit. It had been through many fires and would be around 2-300 years old so it had to be something special…
