Jeannette Dyson – Artist – Paintings

Established Artist Jeanette Dyson’s love of the Western Australian landscape is captured throughout her work. Many of the works depict the Kununurra and Kimberley areas of the north-west of WA where she has frequently resided. The colours and textures of that landscape are rendered in oils, acrylics and often pearl dust, gold dust and ochres found at the site. Jeanette is a highly awarded artist who has held numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and interstate.

Jeannette Dyson – Artist Biography

Jeannette Dyson’s love of the Western Australian landscape is apparent throughout her work. Capturing the unique colours and textures, Flora and Fauna, of the Northwest, using a variety of techniques in oils, acrylics, ochres (Kimberley) and gouache. This has made her aware of all the influences that have formed her own identity, specifically that of the Kimberley, Pilbara and the Northern Territory (Kakadu) enabling her to present exciting new exhibitions.

Jeannette Dyson was born in South Australia in 1949, but came to Perth as a small child.

She attained her Diploma of Art Studies at Forrestfield Technical College, receiving awards in the final year of painting and studio ceramics.

Jeannette, is married and has a son and daughter, Jeannette was Vice President of the Kununurra Arts Council created and Managed two Kununurra Art Galleries, Resident Artist at the Kununurra District High School, and teaching at Kimberley College of TAFE.

Among the many prizes and Art Awards she has won, have been the Royal Agricultural Show (Rural Artist of the Year), City Of Belmont Art Award, Liddelow Bicentennial Art Awards (both Oil and Watercolour sections), Cockburn Bicentennial Art Awards and culminating in the prestigious Melville Art Awards , Ord Festival and East Kimberley Acquisition Award , Shinju Matsuri, Kimberley Art Award , Cossack Major Art Award and the Beverley Contemporary Art Award.

Her paintings are included in many private collections, sponsored acquisitions purchases, overseas and Government collections (Premiers & Minister of Health Offices) and has exhibited in London, Paris and New York.

Having spent 6 years in the Avon Valley wheat belt & due to her husband’s appointment as Senior Inspector, WAQIS on the NT / WA border & subsequent transfer back to Kununurra and the Kimberley which remains a constant inspiration for her painting.

Education

Diploma of Arts Studies (Dip of A.S) with award in 4th year (final) painting and Dux of Studio Ceramics. Workshops and Courses. TAFE: Grant sponsored residency & school workshops.
