Crown Resorts Sydney 4.4m Table
JahRoc was approached by Crown Resorts to build a spectacular table to become the main feature for their restaurant in the new Crown Towers, Sydney, Australia. The initial design concept was presented by Fable Designs, London and adapted by Gary Bennett of JahRoc, resulting in a functional masterpiece. JahRoc chose dark coloured ancient Jarrah timber for the twin slab raw edge top estimated at 400 to 500 years old , teamed with historic timber from the Merredin Wheat Bins for the base which uses mortise and tenon joints along with double dowels for construction.
This table will be installed on the 24th floor of the new Crown Towers requiring it to be craned in through the windows before the building is complete. JahRoc were required to design the base to be deconstructed for ease of delivery and installation.
The sliding serving tray was designed so that the seating configuration of the table can change. Keep it at one end the table and serve one group of x16, or slide it into the middle and break the area into x2.
An oil finish was used on both pieces, allowing a natural feel and look to the grain.
