# Filigree Designer Bed – In The Making - Link: https://www.jahroc.com.au/filigree-designer-bed-in-the-making - Published: 2017-05-30T00:00:00+08:00 - Author: JahRoc Galleries The Filigree Bedhead was designed in December 2014 following on from our successful collaborative exhibition “Project Margaret River” when JahRoc Furniture produced a stunning collection of furniture designs all inspired by the Margaret River Region. In this project [The Canopy Display Cabinet](https://www.jahroc.com.au/home-furniture-shop/designer-furniture/sideboards/canopy-display-cabinet/) was born using a hand carved design depicting the awesome treetop canopies found in the region that look down on us with wisdom and grace. The Filigree Bedhead also uses this canopy design carving and is proving to be a timeless design that can take on an ultra modern feel or can be mixed up with a bit of old. Enjoy these In The Making photos… ## Selecting the timber --- David and Jagath have an enormous task of selecting the timber for each furniture order. With customer requests for the timber to have a certain “look” it takes patience to sift through many piles of raw timber slabs, and also experience to know how it will look sanded and polished. Jagath has found just the right pile of Marri timber slabs for the Filigree Bed, and uncovers a startled visitor when he picks it up. * ![2 Filigree Bed In The Making Choosing Timber](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp- content/uploads/2017/05/2-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-choosing-timber-1024x768. jpg) * ![3 Filigree Bed In The Making Finding Timber A Helping Hand](https://www.jahroc. com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/3-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-finding-timber- a-helping-hand.jpg) * ![4 Filigree Bed In The Making Selecting Timber](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp- content/uploads/2017/05/4-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-selecting-timber-1024x768. jpg) * ![5 Filigree Bed In The Making Finding Timber](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp-content/ uploads/2017/05/5-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-finding-timber-1024x768.jpg) * ![6 Filigree Bed In The Making Finding Timber](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp-content/ uploads/2017/05/6-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-finding-timber-1024x768.jpg) * ![7 Filigree Bed In The Making Setting Timber Out](https://www.jahroc.com.au/ wp-content/uploads/2017/05/7-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-setting-timber-out-1024x768. jpg) ## Putting it together --- Our incredibly talented master craftsman Jagath Prasantha begins the setting out of patterns and machining the timber for the Filigree Designer Bed. The time consuming hand carving of the canopy detail is completed with artistic precision, then it is off to be polished in it’s many sections before assembling the finished piece. * ![7 Filigree Bed In The Making Setting Timber Out](https://www.jahroc.com.au/ wp-content/uploads/2017/05/7-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-setting-timber-out-1024x768. jpg) * ![8 Filigree Bed In The Making Machining Timber](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp- content/uploads/2017/05/8-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-machining-timber-1024x768. jpg) * ![9 Filigree Bed In The Making The Structure Starts](https://www.jahroc.com.au/ wp-content/uploads/2017/05/9-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-the-structure-starts- 1024x768.jpg) * ![10 Filigree Bed In The Making The Structure](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp-content/ uploads/2017/05/10-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-the-structure-1024x768.jpg) * ![11 Filigree Bed In The Making The Structure](https://www.jahroc.com.au/wp-content/ uploads/2017/05/11-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-the-structure-1024x768.jpg) * ![12 Filigree Bed In The Making Carving The Detail](https://www.jahroc.com.au/ wp-content/uploads/2017/05/12-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-carving-the-detail-1024x768. jpg) * ![13 Filigree Bed In The Making Carving The Detail](https://www.jahroc.com.au/ wp-content/uploads/2017/05/13-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-carving-the-detail-1024x768. jpg) * ![14 Filigree Bed In The Making Carving The Detail](https://www.jahroc.com.au/ wp-content/uploads/2017/05/14-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-carving-the-detail.jpg) * ![15 Filigree Bed In The Making The Finishing Begins](https://www.jahroc.com. au/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/15-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-the-finishing-begins. jpg) * ![16 Filigree Bed In The Making The Finishing Begins](https://www.jahroc.com. au/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/16-Filigree-Bed-In-The-Making-the-finishing-begins. jpg) ## The Finished Filigree Bed --- The finished designer bed is spectacular.
