Garry Zeck – Artist – Paintings – Ceramics

For Perth born artist Garry Zeck art is life and art is his journey. Garry has contributed to the Western Australian arts community as an arts educator and accomplished art practitioner. He is a renowned ceramicist and painter who derives inspiration from the natural environment often depicting the native flora of Western Australia. Garry has exhibited extensively over his long career and has held solo exhibitions in Sydney, Adelaide, Broome and Perth. His work is represented in numerous collections including, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Artbank Sydney and private collections both national and international.

Art is life. Art is the journey. What I want my art to reflect on is the impact of the experiences that have influence on my thinking. These experiences include self discovery, a reaction to form and a passion for gestural realities. I believe that most often the attempt is to find ‘meaning’ as a justification for creating. The authentic journey is a journey from the heart. To be an artist is to experience that journey every day, to ask what I want to say and how the materials I use are going to contribute to this expression.
