7’6″ Sheoak Wooden Surfboard
Using the Torsion Box method, Gary Bennett and Jim Banks have combined their talents to make this 7’6″ Hollow Wooden Surfboard.
This technique is extremely laborious. So much so that the boys are unlikely to ever use this technique again in it’s entirety. Designed to be surfed, this is the first “surfable” board in the “Always Offshore” collaboration series of wooden surfboard designs.
Jim and Gary both worked on this board with Jim keeping a careful eye on the shape ensuring it was made true to his specs. It has special provenance as it is the first surfable hollow board ever made with the Master (Jim Banks) physically getting involved. Because of this it is a true collectable. There will only ever be one of these.
If you are too scared to surf it, then it makes a beautiful sculpture, the craftsmanship appreciated when closely admired.
Materials: Sheoak Deck & Fins, with Australian Red Cedar rails and tail block. Silver Ash stringer and pin lines. Glassed in 4oz cloth and finished with 10 coats of ultra clear UV inhibiting acrylic lacquer.
