Martin Costello

Martin Costello’s work utilises a range of materials which compliments his affiliation with the ocean and nature. Old meets new as the sleek modern stainless gives way to an air of history, merging with the rusty, raw cast steel reminiscent of a shearing shed.

Not only does his work carry historic meaning, each piece carries a certain personal experience as the sculptures provide an outlet for his thoughts. A serious workplace injury in 2007 has meant a turbulent time for Martin over the past few years, with his sculptures providing a sanctuary for him during the highs and lows.

Martins work can be viewed at the Artra and Paul Dowe galleries in the Swan Valley, and Jahroc Galleries in Margaret River WA. Martin has been involved in an exhibition with Michael Fitzgerald in 2009 and will form an integral part of the Australiana exhibition with the same artist later in 2010.
