Gary Leathendale

Gary Leathendale immigrated to Australia from England in 1982 .Drawing for most  of his life, Gary became a full time artist in 1997.
Initially trained by West Australian artist Larry Mitchell, Leathendale  is largely self taught.
Working in pastels, oils, charcoal and a variety of mixed mediums he focuses on landscape as well as venturing into the gonre of the nude.
A staunch believer in the empirical nature of art and promoter of Plein-air painting, Leathendale works seasonally and with the weather. He can be found out in the elements from a serene scene of autumn on the river, to a strapped easel in a full force storm in the middle of winter. Being a natural eclectic at heart, "it allows me not to be restrained by style"
