Robbie Porritt
In 1976 Robbie won the Channel Seven Young Artist Award and continued his artistic pursuits until he went on tour as lead singer with Western Australian rock group the Manikins in the 1980’s. Robbie has returned to the brushes and his latest work captures his love of the ocean and surf. Painted in acrylic and gold leaf his work depicts the sea in its many guises, sometimes wild, romantic, or meditative. As Robbie says the sea is “a lyrical mesmerizing pulse of the earth…it’s a lot like rock and roll.” His work has been collected by Janet Holmes a Court Collection, Art Gallery of WA, Neil & Tim Finn and Greta Scacci.
