MARC GRUNSEIT - Glass Artist Born in Sydney in 1952, Marc had extensive involvement in art and creative crafts during his school years, complementing a formal education. He studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1977 and practiced medicine for five years. He took up a long standing interest in stained glass in 1979 and in 1982, sold his medical practice to pursue it full-time. Since then, he has completed numerous commissions, for domestic, ecclesiastical and public buildings and participated in group and solo exhibitions in galleries worldwide, with various pieces held in public, private and corporate collections worldwide. Marc was the elected National President of the Australian Association of Glass Artists from 1989-1990. The scope of his work ranges from 25sq m architectural installations to delicate pieces of kiln formed glass which fit into the palm of the hand. The designs are eclectic but are employed to interpret the natural, social, cultural and mythological Australian environment into unique pieces of glass art.
